During my internship at the Rapid City CVB, I decided to join the Young Professionals Group Committee as the CVB and Chamber sit in the same office. Through my involvement with this committee, I have learned how to interact within a small group of professionals. I have help put on several YPG events, along with seminars. For more information on the activites I perform as a YPG Committee member take a look at the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce website. The Rapid City Christmas Lights Committee is the special project of the Black Hills Area Community Foundation. The committee came together last summer with the efforts of myself and City Council Woman Deb Hadcock. This committee strives to raise money for the enhancement and expansion of the Christmas lights in Rapid City. On Saturday, October 20th, 2007, the committee hosted an event called Oktoberfest with Scarecrows. Students, organizations and businesses built scarecrows and decorated and craved pumpkins that were silently auctioned off to raise money. Kids activities were held during the day with a Oktoberfest Dance in the evening. Below are a few of the Scarecrows.
